THE RESET BUTTON
Brand resets are common for businesses who have been serving their customers for years or decades, and have already established brand voice and visuals across media. At a certain point, brand maintenance requires subtle changes to the basics. A brand reset is different from a brand overhaul in that it is not as sweeping—i.e. it doesn’t require extensive auditing or for anything to be built from the ground up—but its impact is similar in that it affects many of the day-to-day assets like a website homepage or a business card.
When we started out collaboration with Adonis, we realized that refreshing the brand meant understanding and reestablishing their voice as well as refining their visuals. We received buy-in to update the brand in a subtle shift, perfect for modernizing the established brand without taking away from existing groundwork.
CLEAR VOICE
Language guides create shared verbiage throughout the backend of a business, so that client-facing assets are cohesive and aligned.
With Adonis’ voice guide, we honed in and leveraged their existing copy, keeping core ideas intact. We added a structure that could inform future subtle shifts and a timeless backbone of distilled tonal approaches—like elevator pitches—that will stand as a touchstone for future copy creation.
VISUAL COHESION
During a brand refresh, visual guides aid in the organization and implementation of new visual assets. Whether logos are being subtly adjusted, new colorways are being added, or entirely updated versions of branding visuals are coming into play, a brand’s visual guide makes it possible for a business to have all of the new assets on hand at the same time.
Adonis now has a quick reference of all logos, colors, fonts, and assets for any existing or future visual projects.
FROM HERE, ANYWHERE
Once visual assets and brand voice are well established, the possibilities for new visual projects are essentially limitless.
